Brad Burleson
PARTNER, TALLAHASSEE
Brad brings a rare combination of legal training and hands-on government experience to his work as a lobbyist and policy advisor. He represents a diverse roster of clients — from Florida trade associations and regional businesses to Fortune 500 and multi-national corporations — before both state and federal legislative and executive branches.
His advocacy spans a wide range of issues, including transportation and infrastructure funding, emerging technology and IT regulation, tax policy, economic development, and federal and state appropriations. Notable engagements include successfully defending U.S. agricultural interests against unfair foreign trade practices, guiding major manufacturers through complex trade and housing policy, and representing Florida’s road building industry for over a decade. Brad also has extensive experience assisting developers with permitting matters before FDOT and FDEP.
Before joining Ballard Partners, Brad practiced law with a focus on transportation and construction litigation and served as a legislative correspondent for U.S. Senator Richard Shelby — experience that gives him a nuanced understanding of how policy is shaped at both the state and federal levels.
Brad holds a J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law and a B.S. in Political Science from Vanderbilt University.
